My name is David Thrift, and I would like to welcome you to my new and official website, simply titled by my name – DAVID THRIFT – MRDTHRIFT.com and thank you for visiting.

I reside in Southeast Alabama, but can be found roaming back and forth over the Alabama and Georgia state line at any given time, especially if I’m out having a day with my camera. I never tell when or where I’m going… only where I’ve been.

I am a crafter, and a amatuer outdoor photographer.

I have created this website for four main purposes:

1. For my DUDECAPZ BEANIE STORE, where I sell my hand-knit and crochet beanies, I will be posting progress photos of new items I am making that will be put up for sale.

2. I love taking “random” photos with my Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra. I will be posting some of these photos to this website in organized categories on my blog. This leads me to purpose #3…

3. For my MUDPIX OUTDOORS PHOTOGRAPHY (my official photography), I will be promoting that with links on my random photography pages. My official photography is sold in the form of pdf ebooks.

4. I like to keep up with local area news and events, so this last main purpose for this website is primarily for my own use. I plan to build a small directory of local area news and information sources on the internet that cover Lee County, AL, and surrounding areas.

I have been blogging on the wordpress.com platform since March 2014 (I think). As of this post, I have over 50 blogs and other .com sites. They all serve their own purpose, or were created for a purpose I never followed through on.

This is another reason I decided to start this website. All of my other sites and blogs are going to be condensed down to one “burner” blog for archiving, and then I will have this .com and a few other .coms that are important to me… this one being my main website.

My idea today of what an “official”, personal website should be, is that it should be an extension of who you are, and I feel that in all of the years I’ve spent building websites and blogs, I haven’t done that. I have bits and pieces of me scattered around so many places, that none of it matters lol. I hope to turn that around with this website.

Outside of the interests I described above, I am an avid fan of Earthcam. So much so, that on Saturday, October 9th, 2021,  I bought a secondary phone for myself (Samsung Galaxy A32 5G) specifically for having to watch the Earthcam live video streams without breaking my work flow on my main phone – the Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra.

Below you can find some random content that I am featuring in my blog for a limited time period. This content is updated frequently.

TRAINS – Since Tuesday, November 2nd, 2021, I have been on a train kick. It started on Twitter when I decided to follow the #train, #trainspotting, and #railroad hashtags while working on my website, in hopes of seeing some cool train photography. This isn’t the first time I’ve been on a train kick, as I have enjoyed watching train ride videos on YouTube prior, as well as I love taking train photos when I get the chance, but this writing is my first real record of it. Below I would like to highlight some accounts on Twitter, and other links related to Trains that I think are interesting and that I recommend checking out.

William A. Hamlin – @SE_Railfan84 – Truck driver, PRO FREEDOM & train photographer. Be sure to check out his teespring store link. He’s got some nice train themed t-shirts, and hoodies.
